The University of Maine at Fort Kent is situated at the center of Acadian history and culture in rural Northern Maine. A regional baccalaureate university within the University of Maine System, UMFK serves a diverse student population both local and international.

The University mission offers a broad array of undergraduate degrees with programs in liberal arts, natural and behavioral sciences, education, nursing, forestry, business, human services, environmental studies and two new programs in public safety administration and e-commerce. We take pride in our learner-centered atmosphere where faculty's first priorities are teaching and advising.

The friendly community of Fort Kent has a population of approximately 4,500 and is situated in the St. John River Valley. Our unique geographic location across the river from New Brunswick, Canada, provides opportunities for international educational experiences and unsurpassed outdoor recreational activities in all four seasons including alpine and world-class Nordic /biathlon skiing, hiking, camping, canoeing and fishing. The people of the Valley are largely descended from the French-Acadians and French-Canadians and French is commonly spoken on both sides of the border.
