UMFK students named to Dean's List

Dr. Rachel E. Albert, vice president for academic affairs at University of Maine at Fort Kent has announced that 221 students were named to the Dean's List for the spring 2009 semester.

Students attaining the honor must be degree candidates, enrolled as a full-time student, and must maintain a 3.25 grade point average on a 4.0 scale for the semester.

"As, each semester, Congratulations and welcome to the Dean's List! As Vice President for Academic Affairs, it is my pleasure to appoint each of you to the official spring term Dean's List for having completed at least 12 graded credits with a minimum GPA of 3.2. It is an honor and delight to recognize all high achieving campus students. Individuals named to the Dean's List truly reflect the ambitions and aspirations that our students hold for academic achievement. We are proud of your accomplishments. Best wishes for continued academic and personal success, and engagement in intellectual and enriching educational opportunities in the new spring term at UMFK," said Dr. Albert.

Included on the Dean's List are 29 students who attained a perfect 4.0 average.

UMFK is situated at the center of Acadian history and culture in rural northern Maine.  The regional baccalaureate university within the University of Maine System serves 1,100 students, mostly from Maine but with a considerable number of international students, including 176 Canadian students.

The community of Fort Kent has a population of 4,200 and is situated in the St. John River Valley. The people of the valley are largely descended from the French-Acadians and French-Canadians.
