In 1994, I graduated from UMFK. My goal was to find a job as a secondary school art teacher. While on the search for such a job, I was hired as a part-time Student Activities coordinator on campus. I never left.
I am now the Dean of Students on a campus that I love in a community that I have always called home. UMFK has given me more opportunities than I could have ever imagined and I continue to look back on my career and on my time here as a student as inspiration and as a foundation for future endeavors and accomplishments.
I think I have the best job on campus because I get to spend each day working with college students. There's nothing more exciting for me than to have the opportunity to help and support students who come to campus a little nervous, a little scared and a little freaked out. I get the chance to see most of these students grow academically, socially and emotionally and succeed as learners and as members of their community.
I do have a life outside of work. I am a visual artist and I have exhibited my work in numerous places in Maine. I also enjoy interior design, choral singing, shopping and reading.
You and I have something in common. We were both made a great choice to get our education at UMFK.
