Yair Gal, Lead Community Mentor

Yair Gal, Lead Community Mentor, the LodgeHi, I'm Yair Gal. I was born in Israel in 1984. I grew up in Israel playing Sports (Basketball and Tennis) and Music (Guitar) which were always a part of me since I was a little kid. I went to my first basketball practice when I was 6 years old and haven't left the court since then. Moreover, after graduating high-school in Israel, I joined the Israeli Defense Force; there I served as a soldier and a commander for three years. Now I am a full time student at UMFK, majoring in Business & Management, and play for the basketball varsity team. After graduating from UMFK my goals will be working on Wall Street and/or playing professional Basketball.

Charissa Carter, Community Mentor

Charissa Carter, Community Mentor, The LodgeMy name is Charissa Carter. I am from South Portland, but decided to come to UMFK for the education program. I am majoring in Elementary Education, with a minor in History. After I complete my last year, I am hoping to stay in the County and get a job at one of the local elementary schools. I also work as a student trainer in the athletic department on campus. I am looking forward to my first year as a CM in the Lodge.

Luka Odak, Community Mentor

Luka Odak, Community Mentor, the LodgeHi, my name is Luka Odak and I am from Croatia (that is in Europe and no, it is not Yugoslavia... anymore). 09-10 academic year will be my 3rd year at UMFK. I'm in the Business program (concentration in accounting, finance and financial services.) Proud to say that I am a member of the UMFK Men's soccer team. I'm undecided what I am going to do after college. I hope to become a pro-soccer player and/or work in a brokerage house.

Stewart Whitney, Community Mentor

Stewart Whitney, Community Mentor, the LodgeMy name is Stew Whitney and this is my second and final semester here at UMFK. I am from Nova Scotia and I am here completing my Teacher Certification. My undergraduate degree was in Recreation and Sport Management.

This is my first time being a Community Mentor in residence; and I am super stoked to meet and get to know many of you who will be living in The Lodge this year. I enjoy lots of things but I love sports. My favorite sports are basketball and wake boarding! I also enjoy going for long walks on the beach...

Anyway, I look forward to helping make this semester one of the best yet. See you all around!

– Goran Nagradic, Community Mentor

Goran Nagradic, Community Mentor, The LodgeI come from Croatia (Europe). I grew up in a town named Kutina. I came here to get a degree and to play college basketball. Doing both of those things back home is nearly impossible. Prior to basketball I played soccer for three years and trained teakwood for a year and a half. I speak three languages Croatian, English and German. By traveling around the Europe I have experienced lots of different cultures. This is my last year here and I expect to graduate in May 2010. I chose business management as my major because I want to build a business. I enjoy watching movies, playing sports and I love to laugh with my friends. I am a very open person and like to meet new people. My best imaginary friends are Facebook, eBay and Google smiley.
