Connect to H: Drive from Home

Windows 2000/XP

  • Right click on "My Computer" and then click on "Map Network Drive" as shown in Figure 1.

  • A window will open as shown in Figure 2. You need to click on "Sign up for online storage or connect to a network server", which is highlighted in red in Figure 2

  • A window will appear as shown in Figure 3. Just click on Next.

  • You will then see a window as shown in Figure 4. Click on "Choose another network location" and then click Next.

  • In the text box type the path:

    https://student-hdrive.umfk.maine.edu/netumfk/firstname.lastname

    • Replace "firstname.lastname" with your NETUMFK ID. For example if your name is John Doe you would type:
      https://student-hdrive.umfk.maine.edu/netumfk/john.doe

  • Now click the Next button as shown in Figure 5.

  • You will be presented with a Security Alert window like the one shown in Figure 6. Just click the "Yes" button to continue.

  • You will now be prompted to enter your NETUMFK ID credentials as shown in Figure 7.

    • Example: If your NETUMFK ID is John.Doe you would enter John.Doe@netumfk.edu as the username. Then enter your password. Click "Next" when finished.

    It is recommended that you NOT checkmark the "Remember my password" checkbox. Doing so would allow anyone that uses your personal computer to have access to your H:\ drive files.

  • Depending on your internet connection speed you may have to wait 10-15 seconds or more before then next window appears. When it does you will see a window as shown in Figure 8. Type My H-Drive or any other name you wish to call it into the text box.

  • Just click Finish.

  • You should see a window open as shown in Figure 10. You need to click on "Web Folders" on the left side of the window. You can see it in Figure 10.

  • You should see a folder with the name "My H-Drive" or whatever name you named it. You need to right click on it, move down to Send To, and then click on Desktop (create shortcut). You can see this shown in Figure 11

  • Now you will have a new icon on your computers Desktop. Just double click that icon and enter your NETUMFK username and password to access your H Drive. It should look like Figure 12.
