Connect to H: Drive from Home
Windows Vista
- In order to use the Web Folder in Windows Vista you need to download and install a patch. To download the patch click on the icon below and choose "Run".
- When it is done downloading a User Access Control window will pop-up and ask you if you wish to continue. Choose "Continue".
- You will need to click on the check box next to "Click here to accept the Microsoft Software License Terms." and then click "Continue" as shown in Figure 2.

Figure 3 - You will see the installation progress as shown in Figure 4.

Figure 4 - When the installation is complete you will see a window as shown in Figure 5. Just click "Ok".

Figure 5 - Right click on "My Computer" and then click on "Map Network Drive" as shown in Figure 6.

Figure 6 - A window will open as shown in Figure 7. You need to click on "Connect to a Web site that you can use to store your documents and pictures.", which is highlighted in red in Figure 7

Figure 8 - You will then see a window as shown in Figure 9. Click on "Choose a custom network location" and then click Next.

- Replace "firstname.lastname" with your NETUMFK ID. For example if your name is John Doe you would type:
https://student-hdrive.umfk.maine.edu/netumfk/john.doe
- Replace "firstname.lastname" with your NETUMFK ID. For example if your name is John Doe you would type:
- Now click the Next button as shown in Figure 10.

Figure 10 - You will be presented with a Security Alert window like the one shown in Figure 11. Just click the "Yes" button to continue.

Figure 11 - You will now be prompted to enter your NETUMFK ID credentials as shown in Figure 12.
- Example: If your NETUMFK ID is John.Doe you would enter John.Doe@netumfk.edu as the username. Then enter your password. Click "Next" when finished.

Figure 12It is recommended that you NOT checkmark the "Remember my password" checkbox. Doing so would allow anyone that uses your personal computer to have access to your H:\ drive files.
- Depending on your internet connection speed you may have to wait 10-15 seconds or more before then next window appears. When it does you will see a window as shown in Figure 13. Type My H-Drive into the text box.

- Example: If your NETUMFK ID is John.Doe you would enter John.Doe@netumfk.edu as the username. Then enter your password. Click "Next" when finished.

- You should see your H-Drive files in a window. You will need to click on the "Web Folders" text on the top of the window which is highlighted in red in Figure 16

Figure 16 - You will see a icon that says "My H-Drive". You need to right-click on it and then choose "Create Shortcut". You can see this shown in Figure 17

Figure 17 - Now you will have a new icon on your computers Desktop. Just double click that icon and enter your NETUMFK username and password to access your H Drive. It should look like Figure 18.
