Students:
Regular reserve items are picked up and dropped off at the circulation area (see map). Students should ask for the the items on reserve by the name of the instructor.
Electronic reserve items may be accessed from any computer with an internet connection and then through URSUS. Your instructor will have the password to access the electronic reserve items.

Faculty:
Faculty can place commonly used items in one location for multiple students to use (see map). Contact Debra Durkin by email, by phone, or in person to place items on reserve. A form is also available online for both regular reserve items and electronic reserve items.

Faculty may restrict the loan period to:

Closed Reserve 2 hours (items are used in the library only)
Closed Reserve 2 hours with overnight option (items are used in the library only unless checked out before closing)
Open Reserve 2 hours (all open reserves: items may be taken from the library for the allotted time)
Open Reserve 1 day 
Open Reserve 2 days 
Open Reserve 3 days 
Open Reserve 1 week

How to get to electronic reserves

Getting there through URSUS:

(to follow these instructions you can click on the URSUS link and a new window will pop up. You will need to disable your popup blocker if this feature is on in your browser. Otherwise just open a new window and go to URSUS by clicking on the "Course Materials on Reserve" link under "Find a Book".
  1. Go to URSUS by clicking on the "Course Materials on Reserve" link under "Find a Book.
  2. Choose the "Course Reserves" tab then choose to search by Instructor or Course Name.
  3. If you choose "Course Name", then type in the name (e.g. eng100 or english composition).
  4. If you choose "Instructor", then type in last name first (e.g. smith, joe).
  5. The title field description will read "ELECTRONIC RESERVE(S)". Click on the title (in blue).
  6. In the next window click on the "Click Here for Articles".
  7. In the next window type in your password for the class and click on the "Accept" button at the bottom (or hit enter). You will now have access to the files for that class. Contact Debra Durkin if you have any questions.
  8. If "ELECTRONIC RESERVE(S)" is not a descriptor, then the item is in hardcopy at the circulation desk. The data presented to you will let you know if the item is available for check-out or not.

Getting there through Docutek (for electronic reserves only):

  1. Go to http://docutek.ursus.maine.edu/ .
  2. Click on "Electronic Reserves and Reserves Pages".
  3. Choose a field by which to search for your course.
  4. Click on the appropriate course, then on the next page type in your password for the class and click on the "Accept" button at the bottom (or hit enter). You will now have access to the files for that class. Contact Debra Durkin if you have any questions.
