ITV courses take place only at University outreach centers or on campus, so tests are administered by the staff in place. Your instructor will set up specific testing times and you will submit the test to the center staff.
Most internet classes will utilize online quizzes and/or written assignments that are submitted electronically. Be sure that you have a secure and reliable internet connection. Online tests are timed and you do not want to be cutoff prematurely. You may want to consider using a campus computer lab for online test taking.
Exam Proctors Your online course may require that you have a proctor to supervise tests. The best method is to select a University or ITV center near you. If you are unable to use this method, you will need to find your own proctor. The proctor you choose must meet our requirements (see below). Any compensation to the proctor is the responsibility of the student.
Instructions to student:
- Identify a proctor using the guidelines below.
- Complete the "Student Information" section of the Proctor Selection Form (PDF).
- Present this form to your prospective proctor.
- Have the proctor complete the "Proctor Information" section of the form.
- Have the proctor also submit a brief memo on their institutional letterhead, stating their intent to proctor tests for you.
- Return the completed form and the memo to the UMFK Distance Education Office, 23 University Drive, Fort Kent, Me 04743 or fax (207) 834-7508.
- You will be notified via e-mail about the approval of the proctor by the course instructor.
Guidelines for choosing a proctor:
A proctor should meet one of the following criteria and can not be a member of the student's family:
- Principal or Superintendent of a public or private school, or school district.
- Dean, Academic Department Head, Extension or Correspondence Administrator, Registrar, or other official Testing Service of an accredited College or University.
- Full-time instructor or librarian at a public or private school.
- Education Officer (Armed Forces Personnel).
- Support staff of a public or private school, or school district. (special circumstances only)
The final decision regarding acceptance of proctors lies with the course instructor.
