UNIVERSITY OF MAINE AT FORT KENT
DISTANCE EDUCATION COMMITTEE (AD HOC)
PURPOSE:
The charge of the Committee is to examine issues and concerns brought to its attention by the faculty, staff and students, and to seek ways to improve the delivery, and ensure the quality of distance education courses.
The committee will review, develop, and recommend procedures and policies as they relate to the development, delivery, support and management of distance education courses and programs.
The Committee will also carry out other duties as charged.
The Committee will report to the Vice president for Academic Affairs
REPRESENTATION:
- At least one (1) faculty representative from each academic division
- At least two (2) information services representatives
- At least one (1) administrative support representative
- One (1) student affairs representative
- One (1) academic and counseling services representative
- Permanent- The Registrar
- Permanent- The Coordinator of Distance Education (Chair)
- Others as deemed appropriate by the Chair
Chair has the discretion to establish sub-committees and task forces as needed
HOW APPOINTED:
Initially members will be appointed by Vice President for Academic Affairs in consultation with the Chair of the Distance Education Committee. Subsequently, members will be elected, appointed or otherwise selected from within their respective units.

Fall
ROTATION:
Members serve two year rotating terms with the exception of the Registrar and Coordinator of distance Education, which are permanent.
