Online Resources

Internet Access to our Online Catalog

Catalogs of our holdings are available via the University of Maine System's MARINER information resource gateway. Our library holdings appear on the URSUS online public access catalog, while some of our archival collections are catalogued (along with those of the Northeast Archives of Folklore and Oral History and UMaine Orono's Fogler Library Special Collections) in a separate ARCHIVES database. (For tips on using the archival database, see below).

Please bear in mind that these listings represent only a small portion of our holdings! The best way to find out whether we have materials that address your research interests is to visit, call, write, or send an email query. Click here for complete contact information, or fill out our query form.

Searching the Archives Database

Once connected, you can search the combined holdings of the database by using standard search functions: name, subject, etc. You can also search by geographic area or by genre. English language subject indexing is limited at this time (French subject indexing has not yet been fully implemented).

You will be able to identify Acadian Archives records by their "MCC..." accession numbers. Once a search has been conducted, you can limit the results to only our records by clicking on the "Limit This Search" button and selecting "FK Acadian Archives" in the "Where Item is Located" box. If you would like a list of our holdings, alphabetized by collection title, do a keyword search using "MCC" as the search string.

Once you have located a record, you can click on any highlighted text to bring up an index listing for that term. This will allow you to quickly locate other records using the same subject, person, geographic location, etc. Our records are long--to see the complete record, scroll through by clicking on the righthand scrollbar.
