Young Outstanding Alumni - Erin Soucy

Photo of Erin Carlson SoucyErin (Carlson) Soucy graduated from UMFK with a Bachelor of Science in nursing degree in 1995. She later earned a Master of Science degree in nursing education St. Joseph’s College in Standish, Maine. Currently she is a doctoral candidate, majoring in education, at Northcentral University in Prescott, Arizona.

From 1995 through 2004 Erin worked as staff and charge nurse at Northern Maine Medical Center in Fort Kent. In 1998 she worked at UMFK as a nursing resource center manager.

Erin began working at UMFK as an adjunct clinical and laboratory instructor in 1999. She later managed the Nursing Division’s Resource Center; was a lecturer, and, since 2005, has been an instructor of nursing.

Since May of 2006, she has served as the Acting Director of Nursing at the University.

Erin has served on many UMFK and University of Maine System committees, and holds membership in state, national and international nursing organizations. She has been honored as a member of Who’s Who in American Women 2006), twice as Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers (2005, 2006), by the Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society of Nursing (2004), and as a member of UMFK’s Honor Society of Nursing (1999).

Erin is the daughter of Shirley Carlson and lives in Fort Kent with her husband, Mark, and their two daughters, Taylor and Leah.
