Not sure what you want to study? Not to Worry, 60% of students starting college are unsure of their career interests; and 50% of those who say they do, change their major within the first two years. At UMFK we understand this might be the case and suggest our Bachelor of University Studies program. This field of study gives you the flexility to do the following:

1. Try out our strong liberal arts curriculum:
   If you have not decided on a major, the Bachelor of University Studies is ideally suited to you. It gives you the opportunity to develop a career interest while experiencing the many different educational opportunities provided by UMFK.
2. Gain an affordable way to acquire prerequisites for the majors we do not offer:
   As an accredited institution, UMFK's credits are transferable. Even if we do not offer the major of your choice, you can complete most or all of the prerequisites needed for your desired major before transferring to a school with the program you desire.
3. Become certified to teach at the Elementary and Secondary levels:
   If you already have a degree or are close to attaining one, UMFK's University Studies Program allows you to transfer into a less structured program that allows you to be certified to teach. Note: Maine State Certification is recognized in 38 states and 10 Canadian Provinces so far.
