This is a prototype flood prediction model where the users locates an ice jams, inputs its height, and a contour map of the potential flood zone is rendered.

A literature review suggested the habitat requirements for Canada Lynx. The students used GIS to modify and create data layers (elevation, wetlands, and vegetation) to select desirable habitat and predict potential habitat for Canada Lynx.

Using Maine DOT data, the students analyzed motor vehicle accidents involving deer in 2000 and 2005. Analysis involved factors such as time of day, road conditions and weather, to check their influence on the cause of accidents with deer.

The study was an analysis of bald eagle habitat. It examined distance to waterbodies and the human population within the area of bald eagle nests. The findings in Penobscot County were then projected to Aroostook County to locate desirable eagle habitat.
