Students majoring in French are encouraged to spend a summer, a semester, or an academic year in a previously approved program of study at a foreign university as a part of their program. In the past students have studied in Canada and France through the following programs:
- A semester in Le Mans, France through the University of Maine at Farmington.
As a University of Maine system program most regular financial aid, with the exception of Federal Work-Study, may be applied to the cost of the Semester in Le Mans program.
- The Council of International Education Exchange, (CIEE) offers a semester or a year abroad in Rennes, France.
- Universite Laval, Quebec
UMFK students also have the opportunity to take courses in French at any time at our sister campus, Universite de Moncton, Campus d'Edmunston, located only a half-hour drive away in Edmunston, New Brunswick.
Students interested in studying abroad should consult with their advisor as early on in their academic program as possible.
